Watercolor artist brings unique style to Golden Art gallery this month
Watercolor artist, Ron Sheldon, is the featured artist at the Golden Art Gallery this month.
The painter, who uses a unique technique that eliminates protective glass over the canvas, grew up in California and has been in the Pacific Northwest for over 50 years.
“His paintings can be enjoyed without the distortion or glare of glass,” said gallery organizer, Beth Poirier. “He uses professional grade paints on fine handmade watercolor paper which he permanently bonds to a canvas stretched on a wood frame. The painting is further protected with a material developed for museums.
“He will be showing a unique series of watercolors not seen before in the gallery...Ron will also be showing an expanded assortment of his popular trio vignettes.”
Sheldon and his wife, Doreen, moved to Goldendale five years ago from the Vancouver area.
A reception will be held at the gallery in Goldendale on Second Thursday, which is next week, Dec. 11. It will go from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and offer music, refreshments, and wine.
Then, on Friday, Dec. 12, the gallery will host its 12th Annual Holiday Tour, Art and Gift Show, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Tour-goers can visit up to 15 locations decorated for the holidays, some of which host artisans or local service organizations. The tour continues Saturday form 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., wrapping up just before the community Christmas tree lighting and Candy Cane Lane Parade.
Tickets for the tour are $4 and include admission to the Red House, Klickitat & Western Model Railroad, and the Presby Museum.
For more information, contact the Golden Art Gallery, Clark's Floral, the General Store, or the Greater Goldendale Area Chamber of Commerce.
