Through the efforts of many volunteers and the very generous donations of local merchants and businesses, many needy children in every community of the county will have a happier Christmas this year.
The massive charitable gift event, "Sleigh Bells/Give a Gift," is hosted by the Sheriff Office employees, Klickitat County Search and Rescue, Sheriff Reserve Deputy volunteers, Mid-Columbia Police Activities League (PAL), and the Bingen-White Salmon Police Department. This year it far exceeded expectations. Overwhelming generosity from the benefactors made it possible to direct funding support to the Goldendale Police Santa-Cop Program as well.
"Because of the generosity of our local wind project businesses, established home town merchants, private citizens, as well as several support organizations, this will without question bring a very happy holiday to so many children county-wide that usually have less at Christmas time," said Sheriff Rick McComas.
With the help of Windy Flat Partners last year, children experienced great joy when they found that they had not been forgotten. Their generosity became contagious this year, and Allyn's Building Center, Horse Heaven Grain, Bishop Towing, Erik Beasley and family, Richard Rhinebold, Erik Anderson, Enxco, Siemens, and many more volunteered their time and resources.
