Seat belts do save lives
To the Editor:
I woke up at 4 a.m. on Jan. 9 to get ready for work. I made my lunch for work. I live 10 miles out of Goldendale on Bickleton Highway on Old Mountain Road. The weather was very dangerous; it was freezing rain all night. I play it safe to go to work. I work at Klickitat Valley Health.
Before I started my vehicle, I put on my seatbelt because it saves lives. I left my home around 4:30 in the morning and I reduced my speed as I traveled down Old Mountain to the gravel road way. I traveled to Woodland Road, turned left, and it was very slippery. I got onto Bickleton Highway and headed west. I was driving a 1994 Jeep Cherokee.
When I was three miles out and was going down a little hill about 30 mph, I hit my brakes, and my car began to spin out of control. I had a rollover accident and came to rest in a ditch upside down. My wheels were in the air. I thank God nobody was hurt. I turned off my ignition, and my neighbor came at 5:17. He did not see the rollover accident happen. I used his cell phone to call the sheriff’s office. I’d like to express appreciation for Officer Mitch Kegley, who helped me.

ABATE is not a club
To the Editor:
In reference to the article about GMA & ABATE in last week’s paper, I just want the public to know that ABATE is not a motorcycle club.
We are an organization.
