Betty Jean Morris, 82, died April 10, 2008.
She was born Oct. 26, 1925, in Loveland, Colo., to Mary Leona (Laughrey) and Augusta Klingenberg.
Betty was raised on a farm in Bonners Ferry, Idaho and graduated from high school there in 1943.

Betty found love again and in 1991 she married Robert Morris in Goldendale. He died in 1998.
Betty loved to bowl in her younger days and enjoyed playing pinochle. She volunteered her time to cook at the senior center and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary.
She liked to do needlework and loved to spend her winters in Arizona.
She participated in the Old Time Fiddlers and could play the piano by ear.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Lloyd, Jack and Kenneth Klingenberg, sisters, Elno and Marjorie; and her husbands, John Bates and Robert Morris.
Survivors include her children Barry Bates of Kelso, Barbara Smith of Goldendale, Robert Bates of Switzerland, Linda Voie of Winlock, and Bill Bates of Independence, Okla.; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held April 14, at Mt. View Cemetery in Goldendale, with Vernon Chase officiating. Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel handled arrangements.
