David Leon Garner
David Leon Garner, 59, of Goldendale, died May 8, 2008, at his home.
He was born to Dorothy Jean (Davis) and Leo Garner on Nov. 5, 1948, in Toppenish.
Dave graduated from Goldendale High School and went to work at the Goldendale Mill.
He was drafted into the Army in 1968, and served in Vietnam. After his military service Dave worked for WKO in Carson.
The love of his life, Cathy Whalley, died in 2007.
Dave loved hunting, fishing and poker. He had a real connection with kids and since he was such an easy going and likable guy, people, especially children, liked him as well.
Dave was a member of the Louis Leidl Post 116 American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leo.
Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Garner of Goldendale; brothers, Steve Garner of Darfar, and Doug Garner of The Dalles; and sister, Cindy Garner of Ellensburg.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. May 17, at the American Legion in Goldendale.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Louis Leidl Post 116 American Legion, the NRA, or ILA.
Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel handled cremation arrangements.
