Jack Hash
Jack Hash, 80, died May 1, 2008, at Sunnyside Kaiser Medical Center in Clackamas.
He was born Aug. 5, 1927, and grew up in Juneau, Alaska.
Jack was in the Merchant Marines from 1944 to 1947, during which he had many interesting and exciting moments. He was an engineer for 31 years, which is what brought him to Goldendale where he lived from 1961 to 1973, during which time he worked for the Washington State Highway Department. While in Goldendale, Jack pursued his passion, which was being a family man, and he was very involved with his sons Ken and Dale in Boy Scout Troop 551. He taught hunter safety classes, using his knowledge and expertise. Jack also had an interest in reloading shells and spent time fishing and hunting in and around the Goldendale area. After he and his family moved from Goldendale to the Longview area, Jack went to work for the Corp of Engineers, from 1984 to 1989.
He pursued an interest in archery and photography, having one of his photos of Mt. St. Helen’s after the eruption in the National Geographic Society book, Nature of the Rampage Our Violent Earth, published in 1986.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
