Victoria Rose Crampton

Victoria Rose Crampton, 64, died at her home in Yuma, Ariz., Jan. 17, 2008.
She was born in Laona, Wisc., March 22, 1943, to Delight (Starks) and Melvin Kaatz.
Vicki grew up in Goldendale, having moved there at a young age with her parents. She was an only child, but had many cousins and friends.
In 1964, she moved to Ketchikan, Alaska with her parents and family. She worked as a telephone operator, and moved to Anchorage with her three sons, in 1975.
After retiring from the pulp mill in 1980, her father and mother moved to Anchorage and the whole family lived together there for many years. In 1992, Vicki moved back to Goldendale to help take care of her parents. Following their deaths, Vicki then moved to Yuma in 2002.
In late 2006, due to health problems, Vicki did not want to live alone any longer. It was discovered that she had cancer. She sold her house and had an addition built onto the home of her son, Matt and his wife, Tirzah. She fought cancer for a year, but a subsequent surgery revealed that the cancer was terminal. Over the next three months, she was able to enjoy visits from all of her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, in 1997, and her mother, in 2001.
Survivors include her three sons, Max, Mark and Matthew; two step-daughters, Cindy Crampton and Pam Ware, and seven grandchildren.
Burial will be held at Mt. View Cemetery on June 7, at 1 p.m. A gathering of family friends will follow at the home of Vicki’s aunt, Alice Kaatz, at 1234 Bennett Drive.
