Jack Merlin Burke

     Jack Merlin Burke, 75, died June 8, 2008, in Goldendale.
     He was born July 20, 1932, in Portland, to George and Rena (Kennedy) Burke.
     Jack graduated from Gresham High School and served his country for over 20 years in the Marine Corps and the Army.
     He later went to work for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring as postmaster in the later1990’s.
     Jack lived in Pacific City and Government Camp before moving to Goldendale due to health reasons.
     He was an avid sports fan and especially loved playing golf and bowling.
     He was preceded in death by his brother, Bob Burke.
     Survivors include his sons, Jeffrey Burke of Portland, Tony Burke of Vancouver, and Bob Burke of Portland; and four grandchildren.
     No formal services will be held.
     Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel handled arrangements.
