Donald Hampton Cooper

Donald Hampton Cooper, 71, of Goldendale, died Aug. 21, 2008.
He was born Oct. 22, 1936, in Sacramento, Calif., to Carolyn Erma (Roof) and Charles Augustus Cooper.
Donald spent his young life in California, graduating from El Camino High School in Carmichael in the mid-1950’s where he was the student body president during his senior year.
He was a musician; the trumpet was his instrument of choice. When he was a young man, he played in a band. He moved to Colorado where he attended Colorado School of Mines and later returned to California, completing his bachelor’s degree in mathematics at Sacramento State.
Donald worked in the computer industry for his entire career. Geology was a major interest for him. He also enjoyed collecting and polishing rocks, reading, hiking and construction. On Aug. 19, 1995, Don married Joan Heitschmidt in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The couple moved to Goldendale, in 2000.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Orphelia McNeil and Nancy Jo Gibbs.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Cooper; daughter, Kimberly Reams and her husband, Rick of Silverdale; sons, Vince Clubb and his wife Carol of Granite Bay, Calif., Charlie Cooper and Henry Cooper, both of Seattle, and Sam Cooper; daughter, Molly McGrew of Estacada; sisters, Marilyn Westerman of Marysville, Calif., and Charlene Cooper of West Richland; and 17 grandchildren.
The Cooper family will honor Don’s life privately.
Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel handled cremation arrangements.
