Elizabeth Angeline “Betty” Wanless
Elizabeth Angeline “Betty” Wanless, 88, died Sept. 24, 2008.
She was born in Monticello, Ind., on May 20, 1920, to Helen ( Graves) and Raymond Cochran.
Betty grew up in Indiana and in 1941 hopped a train to Seattle. There she met Neil Wanless and the couple married on Oct. 17, 1941. Earlier in her life she was employed by the Borden Glue Company and Sears, but Betty mostly worked as a secretary for Seattle public schools, retiring from that position in the 1970s.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, bowling and playing cards, and loved music and played both the organ and clarinet. She was a terrific knitter.
Betty was a member of Master Gardeners, Toastmasters and was a current member of the Seattle Secretaries Association.
Survivors include her husband, Neil Wanless of Goldendale; sons, Tom Wanless of Olympia, and Brian Wanless of Goldendale; daughter, Becky Wanless of Camano Island; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Louise Berry and Dr. Ruth Hall.
