Dorothy Ellen Shippey-Jones
Dorothy Ellen Shippey-Jones, 88, died Sept. 26, 2008,
She was born in Oak Harbor, May 14, 1920.
At the age of 11, Dorothy was adopted by Ernie and Virginia (McGowan) Struck.
She attended school in Appleton and in December of 1937 married Orie Blair Shippey. Dorothy loved her life on the Shippey ranch. She worked alongside Blair herding cattle and also enjoyed tending her flower and vegetable gardens. She always kept busy, canning, sewing, riding horses, hiking and traveling and received great pleasure in refurbishing things, making them look new and beautiful again. Dorothy loved square dancing and ballroom dancing.
She was a member of the Washington Cattlemen’s’ Association.
Blair passed away in 1993. Dorothy later married Ivor Jones and the couple made their home in Dallesport.
Survivors include her husband, Ivor Jones of Dallesport; daughters, Marilyn and Arlene; six grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 3, at Gardner Funeral Home with interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Appleton.
