Freda M. Hunter

Freda M. Hunter, 94, died Oct. 4, 2008, at a care facility in The Dalles.
She was a resident of The Dalles for the past eight years, having previously lived many years in Goldendale.
She was born in Temvik, N. D., Jan. 10, 1914, the first of nine children, to Fredrick and Martha Wohl.
She kept busy helping to look after the growing family, as well as helping many of their neighbors with their babies and children. After graduating from high school she moved to Bremerton, where she worked in the shipyards during World War II. Later she attended business college and beauty school, and became a beautician, owning her own business.
She married E. Irvin Hunter on April 7, 1956, in Snohomish. They lived there until moving to Goldendale, where Irvin had been raised.
From 1969 until their deaths, Freda and Irvin were deeply committed to fellowship with a world-wide group of New Testament Christians.
Freda was preceded in death by her son Joe Hunter, in Dec. 1999; her husband Irvin in 2005; her parents; one brother, Ernest Wohl; and three sisters, Ester Wohl, Martha Wohl, and Alyce Scherer.
Survivors include two sisters, Ida Chabanneau, of Casper, Wyo., Helen Klatt of Everett; a brother, Raymond Wohl, of Granite Falls; many nieces and nephews; three sister’s-in-law, Freda Wohl of Lander, Wyo., Peggy Storkel, of Goldendale and Lvana Fraychineaud, of Gig Harbor.
A service will be held on Oct. 11, 2008, at Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Spring Creek Cemetery.
