Edward Wilson
Edward Wilson, 71, of Walla Walla, died Jan. 20, 2009, at his home on Home Avenue, with his family beside him.
Ed was born Nov. 26, 1937, in Seattle, to Edward and Nellie (Taylor) Wilson of Seattle. Ed moved to Walla Walla as a child in 1947. His great-great-grandparents settled in the Walla Walla area in the early 1800’s. He attended local schools, and was a 1956 Walla Walla High School graduate.
Ed married Marilyn Archer on Sept. 19, 1964, in Waitsburg, at the Waitsburg Presbyterian Church. He entered the work force in hotel management, training with Western International Hotels in Seattle and Hawaii. Later on, Ed switched careers. He attended Chemeketa Community College and received a Real Estate Appraisal Degree. He then worked in Real Estate Appraisal and Development for three different government agencies, retiring in 1999, as a Chief Appraiser for Klickitat County, a position he held for 15 years.
Ed was an avid fisherman. His favorite fishing spot was off the Washington Coast fishing for salmon. One of his best memories was teaching his grandchildren to fish for trout at Bennington Lake and Williams Lake.
Ed enjoyed the game of golf, first with his friends at the Goldendale Golf Club for 14 years and then with his buddies at the Walla Walla Country Club for the past eight years. He enjoyed playing with his wife Marilyn in tournaments and golf get-togethers.
He was a former member of the Condon, Ore., Elks, Kiwanis, Walla Walla Country Club, and on the Board of Equalization for Walla Walla County.
Ed was a proud father and grandfather. His greatest joy was when family would gather at their home to celebrate holidays and birthdays. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Alane Soleil Wilson and one son, Richard Hesper Wilson.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn of 44 years, of Walla Walla; one son, Daniel Wilson of Walla Walla; one sister, Donna Wright of Lock Haven, Pa.; five grandchildren, Tabitha Wilson of Clackamas, Ore.; Brenda Wilson of Renton, Daniel Wilson Jr., Jazmine Wilson, and Jordon Wilson all of Walla Walla.
At Edward’s request, there will be no service. Inurnment will be private at Mountain View Cemetery.
