Nancy Whitehead
Nancy Elizabeth Whitehead, 74, died Jan. 16, 2009.
She was born on May 28, 1934 in London, Ky. She was one of 12 children born to John and Nancy Jones. She moved to Oregon to be with her sister and graduated from Roseburg High School in 1953.
In 1979, Nancy and her partner, Jerry Gentry, moved to Goldendale to take over as proprietors of the Town Tavern. She was very involved in the local pool league and was quite a player. She sold “the Tav” in 1995 and moved back to Oregon to retire.
She was preceded in death by Jerry in 1992 and her oldest daughter Kimberly, who died in a car accident outside of Goldendale in 1997.
Survivors include her daughter Sue DeVere (James) and son Phil; five grandchildren and four great grandsons.
A viewing was held at Redmond Memorial Chapel Jan. 24, followed by a graveside service at Redmond Memorial Gardens.
