Marcella Smith
Marcella Smith, 100, died Dec. 6, 2008, just two weeks shy of her 101st birthday.
She was born Dec. 21, 1907. Marcella taught at Goldendale High School from 1936 to 1948. She retired from Central Valley High School, and was a long-time resident of the Spokane Valley.
Marcella was a member of the Spokane Area Retired Educators Association, Washington State Retired Teachers Association and the National Education Association. She was active in the National Honorary Society, Pi Lambda Theta. She was a member of the Alpha lota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, American Association of University Women, Washington State University Alumni Association, and Evergreen Chapter Number one of the Eastern Star, La Gaiete Club and Millwood Presbyterian Church.
Marcella loved to travel and visited Alaska, Hawaii, England, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Poland, Germany, Australia, Leichenstein, Switzerland, France, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Iran, Turkey, Greece, China and Mexico.
For the past several years, Marcella has resided in the Park Place Retirement Home.
Interment was in Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Memorials may be made to the Millwood Community Presbyterian Church or to the charity of choice. Arrangements are by Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home, Spokane Valley.
