Helen Knopp

Helen Irene Knopp, 82, of Klickitat, died at her home in Klickitat on Feb. 17, 2009.
She was born in Oak Creek, S.D. on Oct. 24, 1926, to Hazel Lee (Bartlett) and John K. Vogt.
When she was 14, Helen moved from South Dakota to White Salmon and a year later moved to Klickitat, where she lived the rest of her life. She worked in the box factory at J. Neils Lumber Company and also operated the Klickitat restaurant for a couple of years. At the age of 17, Helen married Frank Knopp. He died in 1964 and she later married Frank's brother, Ed, who preceded her in death in 1989. Helen loved fishing and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents and both of her husbands.
Survivors include her stepdaughter, June Kemnich, of South Dakota; brothers, James Vogt and his wife Rhonda and Kenneth Vogt, all of Klickitat; a sister, Elsie Moon of Pahrump, Nev., and several grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Feb. 28, at the Klickitat School Multi-purpose room. Memorial contributions may be made in Helen's name to Hospice of the Gorge. Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel handled cremation arrangements.
