Jeanette M. Sutton
Jeanette Sutton, 73, of Goldendale, died at her home in Goldendale on Feb. 27, 2009.
She was born in Tulsa, Okla., on Feb. 13, 1936, to Dorothy Meryle (Whalley) and George Charles Lewis
During the oil boom, Jeanette moved to Whittier, Calif., where she met the love of her life, Jack Sutton at the roller rink. After Jack returned from military service in Korea, they were married on Nov. 7, 1954 in Whittier. She and Jack toured as musicians. Jack played many instruments and she was a singer. After starting a family, they settled in Long Beach, Calif., where Jack worked for McDonnell Douglas building airplanes. They retired in Goldendale in 1990. Jack preceded her in death on May 15, 2001.
Jeanette was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge, Eastern Star, The Rebekahs and was a Cub Scout Leader. She loved to make jewelry, baby blankets and was an avid musician. She did a great deal of volunteer work including transporting seniors and was one of the co-founders of Brighter Goldendale Christmas Committee. She had many extended children.
Jeanette is survived by her son, Jack Sutton Jr., her daughter, Georgia Baseler, both of Goldendale; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service in her memory will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Mar. 6, at Fathers House in Goldendale.
