Felix R. Froehlich
Felix R. Froehlich, 89 of Goldendale, died April 11, 2009 at his home after a short stay at the hospital.
Felix was born Sept. 1, 1919, near Dickinson, N.D., to Joseph and Julianna Froehlich.
He was a man of many occupations including cowboy at age 12, trapper, farm hand, Civilian Conservation Corps worker, and served in both the Asian and European theaters of World War II. After discharge at the end of the war, he married Violet Schatz on Jan. 3, 1948, in Yakima, and he became a mechanic. They moved to Goldendale in 1948 where they raised five children while working almost exclusively for the Chevrolet dealership until retiring.
Felix enjoyed hunting, fishing, berry picking and almost anything outdoors.
He was preceded in death by both parents, four brothers, two sisters, one baby daughter, and one grandson.
Survivors include one brother, Joe Froehlich of Yakima, and one sister, Eleanor Gotkowski of Sturgeon Lake, Minn.; his wife of 61 years, Violet Froehlich; five children, Thomas Froehlich of Goldendale, Theresa Russell, and husband Jim, of Joseph, Ore., Charlotte Burton, and husband Gary, of Salem, Ore., Fred Froehlich, and wife Gail, of Goldendale, and Martin Froehlich of North Bonneville; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A Rosary will be held on Friday, April 17 at 7 p.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Goldendale with visitation following at Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel. A funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church followed by interment at the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions in his name may be given to Home Health and Hospice, 310 S. Roosevelt, Goldendale, WA 98620.
