Edgar Frank Barr, Jr.
Edgar Frank Barr, Jr., 79, of Goldendale, died April 17, 2009.
He was born Oct. 1, 1929, in Caldwell, Idaho, to Nettie (West) and Edgar Frank Barr.
Edgar moved to Oregon then Washington before serving in the Army 82nd Airborne Division from October of 1946 until October of 1949. After his service to his country, Edgar worked numerous jobs. In 1966, he met Helen Van Patten and the couple married. They lived in Yakima for two years, then Snoqualmie, before settling in Goldendale in 1971. Mr. Barr worked for Martin Marietta and Commonwealth Aluminum for more than 17 years. Edgar traveled extensively in a pickup and camper all over the United States, British Columbia and Alaska. He loved sturgeon fishing and working on the computer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son Brock Barr; sister Ilene Beach and stepson Glen Spaulding.
Survivors include his wife Helen Barr; two step sons Ron Spaulding of Mill Creek, and Richard Spaulding of Bellevue; stepdaughter Mary Sterne of Seattle; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; foster son Steven Speaks; and loving cousin and caregiver Lori Farell.
A memorial service was held April 20, at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church in Goldendale. Memorial contributions in Edgar's name may be given to the church. Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel handled cremation arrangements.
