Frances L. Tucker
Frances L. Tucker, 76, a long-time resident of Chelan, died April 22, 2009, at Lake Chelan Community Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 1, 1932, in Goldendale, the daughter of Frank and Hazel (Rhoads) Ingraham. Frances spent her early years there and graduated from Goldendale High School.
Following high school, she attended Washington State College. While attending college, she met her future husband, Paul Tucker, of Wenatchee. Following their marriage, they made their home in Chelan.
She was an active member of her church and community, always willing to volunteer her talents unselfishly.
Frances was a member of Boy Scouts of America; Music Boosters; Athletic Boosters; Lake Chelan Float Assoc.; Earth Day Committee; Church of Christ and Women of Columbia; and the Chelan Eagles Auxiliary; she was especially active most recently in the Chelan Eagles Club volunteering and visiting with friends.
Frances was the recipient of numerous awards including Chelan's Citizen of the Year; Scouting's prestigious "Silver Fawn" award, and three time winner of the Washington Apple Growers "Best Apple Dessert" trophy. She was also the recipient of the Soroptimist's Woman of the Year Award in 1978.
Her husband, Paul, preceded her in death in 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include three children, Jane Clark, of Chelan, David Tucker, of Butte, Mont.; Judy Nuxoll, of Lewiston, Idaho; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, four brothers, and a sister.
A tribute service will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 1, at the Church of the Nazarene, in Chelan. Memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or the Local "Earth Day" Fund. There will be no visitation. Private interment will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Goldendale. Services have been entrusted to Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
