Arlie Flippins, Sr.
Arlie Flippins, Sr., 81, of Goldendale died May 21, 2009.
He was born Aug. 21, 1927 in Chicago, Ill., one of eight children.
His early youth was spent in Oklahoma. He later moved to the Kittitas Valley and farmed in the Badger Pocket. Arlie met and married Eudine Hellyer (Griffin) of Ellensburg and started his family. In the mid '50s he moved to Ephrata and then to Royal City in 1963, where he continued to farm and raise his family.
Upon retiring Arlie spent quite a bit of time in the Tri-Cities but thoroughly enjoyed spending the late fall, winters and early spring in Goldendale with his daughter, Lorraine.
Arlie was a member of the Goldendale Senior Center. He enjoyed having lunch and playing pinochle with many friends at the Center. He looked forward to the pinochle parties at the Centerville Grange and the Oddfellows Temple in Goldendale. Arlie loved to bowl and spent many hours at Golden Lanes.
He was preceded in death by his wife Eudine; infant twin sons; second wife Tina; his parents Fred and Flora Flippins; sisters Bertha, Geraldine and Dorothy; and brothers Don and Wayne.
He is survived by his sister, Betty, and brother, Sam, both from Calif.; four sons and three daughters; stepson Jerry Hellyer of Kittitas, stepdaughter, Maxine Cox, of Ellensburg; daughters Lorraine Reynolds, Goldendale, Pamela Flippins, of South Cle Elum; sons Arlie Flippins Jr., of George, and Round Mtn, Nev., Clint Flippins Round Mtn, Nev., and Ray Flippins, Ely, Nev., multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
There will be a gathering to remember the journey of Arlie Flippins, Sr., at 1 p.m. on June 6, at the home of his daughter, Lorraine Reynolds, in Goldendale, 55 Wellman Lane.
