Shelley Ann Marzeles
The body of Shelley Ann Marzeles (Green) passed away Thursday, June 11, 2009, in Goldendale. Her spirit, of course, cannot die.
Shelley was born in Yakima and was raised for a time in nearby Wapato. She graduated from Dwight D. Eisenhower High School in Yakima and then for a time became a stay-home mom with her first husband, Spud Edmondson, and her children, Sara and Nathan.
In her 30s, Shelley decided to get her nursing degree and did so at Yakima Valley Community College, graduating with honors. For years she worked as an intensive care nurse at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Yakima. Later, she moved to Vancouver, where she worked as a cardiac care nurse at the Vancouver Clinic.
Some years later, Shelley decided to drop the routine of everyday affairs and go on a spiritual sojourn across the U.S. and much of the world. She sold all she had, bought a Winnebago RV, and crossed much of the country. She also went abroad, traveling to India and Machu Pichu, among other locations.
Her travels brought her eventually to Sedona, Ariz., where she met her husband, Lou. They were married there, before they moved to Goldendale.
Shelley was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Luella. She is survived by her husband, Lou; her children, Sara and Nathan; her brothers and sister, Kelly, Gary, and Paula; and her grandson, Luke.
Services were held on Wednesday, June 17, at 1 p.m. at the Praise Barn in Goldendale.
