Robert "Bob" David Jennings

Robert "Bob" David Jennings, known to many as "Helicopter Bob," 61, of Goldendale, died June 13, 2009, in Goldendale.
He was born Nov. 3, 1947 in Multnomah County, Ore., to Roy and Edna (Billeter) Jennings. Bob attended school in the Portland area and after graduating in 1966 he went on to join the Marine Corps where he started his military career in the infantry. He later switched to aviation, learned to fly a helicopter and became an officer. Bob received an Audio-Visual Operator's Special Achievement award and several Distinguished Flying Crosses for his above and beyond dedication and flying skills. Bob also received two Purple Hearts.
After his military career he became a member of the Millmen's Union and did some logging and commercial fishing. Bob enjoyed fishing so much he opened his own bait and tackle shop.
A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, June 29 at Mt. View Cemetery in Goldendale. Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
