Richard C. Pew
Richard C. Pew, 68, of Goldendale, died in The Dalles, on Sept. 24, 2009.
He was born May 8, 1941, in Coos Bay, Ore., the oldest of five children to Clinton Z. and Mary L. (Kardell) Pew and grew up in Florence, Ore. Dick received his associates degree and worked as an engineer in the aircraft industry including McDonnel Douglas Helicopter Company from 1980 until 1990.
He served in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1974, and the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1967, where he received the Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation. Richard also served in the California National Guard from 1980 until 1986, and the Oregon Defense Force from 1991 to 1998.
On Nov. 7, 1967, he married Luzviminda Raga in Naic Cavite City, Philippines. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Goldendale, Knights of Columbus and American Legion.
Dick enjoyed traveling, coaching football, baseball and umpiring local sporting events. He was also a big Oregon Ducks fan.
He is survived by his wife, Luzviminda R. Pew of Goldendale; sons Richard R. Pew and Clinton S. Pew; brother Francis A. Pew; sisters Charlotte McManus, Trinia L. Bain and Edith M. Turner; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with interment at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
