Shirley May Landenglos
Shirley May Landenglos died Sept. 16, 2009, with family at her side, following a four year battle with cancer at Grays Harbor Health and Rehab Center in Aberdeen.
Shirley M. Bunch-Landenglos was born on May 13, 1923, to Kenneth and Ruth (Frakes) Bunch in Denver, Colo. While Shirley was young, the family moved to California where she started school. Later the family moved to Bremerton, where she attended high school.
She met and married Gerhard "Curly" Landenglos in Bremerton, on March 5, 1941. Together they worked and raised four children. Shirley was a homemaker and gardener. She loved cooking, being with her family and friends, and needlework. You could often find her helping her husband on a fishing boat, logging timber, or fixing an airplane.
After the death of her husband in 1978, Shirley moved briefly to California and then to Goldendale.
Shirley was a member of the Goldendale Senior Citizens Kitchen Band, a member of the Goldendale AARP Club and Goldendale TOPS.
Shirley moved back to the coast in 2005, to be closer to the beach that she loved.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; a daughter, Vivian in 1949; and her husband Gerhard of 37 years in 1978.
Shirley is survived by sister Mildred Dines of Roseville, Calif.; two sons and one daughter; Al (Sandra) Landenglos of Goldendale, Rose (Keneth) Chadwick and Dan (Cindy) Landenglos of Westport; seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Cremation services were handled by Whiteside Funeral Home of Aberdeen, with a private family gathering at a later date.
