Marc McCabe
Marc Daniel McCabe, 79, died at his home in Goldendale Sept.21, 2009.
He was born May 4, 1930, to Marc Richard and Grace Anna (Van Hoy) McCabe in Bismarck, N.D., where he was raised.
Marc served as a communications technician in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was honorably discharge in December of 1953. For 37 years, McCabe worked for the Corps. of Engineers as a construction representative and was involved in the construction of hydroelectric dams all throughout the country. He retired in 1987, which gave him time for hobbies such as hunting, fishing, mushroom picking and anything outdoors. He also was a beekeeper and loved to play cribbage.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Richard, Patrick, Michael and Raymond.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Hannah (Sofil) McCabe of Goldendale; sons and their wives Ray and April McCabe, Sean and Christie McCabe and Dan and Gina McCabe, all of Goldendale; sister Grace Thompson of Costa Mesa, Calif.; brother John McCabe of Dilworth, Minn.; and seven grandchildren.
Many years ago, McCabe decided to donate his body for medical research at Oregon Health Sciences University, a generous act that will help many people in the future.
