Helen Ray

      Helen Ray, 84, of Goldenedale, died Oct. 4, 2009 .
      She was born Jan. 29, 1925 , in Virginia . Helen met and married her husband of 45 years in Norfolk , Va. She followed him as a military wife from coast to coast until 1952, when they returned to his home town of Goldendale .
     Helen was a lifelong member of the Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed canning, baking, and gardening. In her later years, she became very active in the Senior Center , loved playing cards with her longtime friends, and continued to enjoy her flowers and the birds that came to her feeder, which she always kept full.
     Helen will be laid to rest in the Spring Creek Cemetery along side her husband, Paul Ray, and daughter, Tonja, who preceded her in death.
     She is survived by three daughters and a son: Paula Harvey of Spokane ; Linda Ray of Longview ; Trina Ray of Spokane ; and Tyrone Ray of Vancouver . She is survived also by 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
     There will be a memorial service at the Senior Center on Oct. 16, 2009 , at 1 p.m.
     In lieu of flowers, her wish was for donations to be made to hospice services, specified for education and personal care products.
