Jake White Jr
Jack “Jake” E. White, Jr., 60, of Goldendale, died in Portland, Sept. 29, 2009.
He was born in Pendleton, Ore., June 20, 1949, to Patricia J. and Jack E. White, Sr. Jake lived in Oregon the first part of his life. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1967 and was honorably discharged. He married Shirley Morris of Rufus, Ore., in 1967. The couple was married for 13 years and had two sons, Michael White and Phillip White. Jake and Shirley divorced in 1980.
He was employed by a construction company which was building the local aluminum plant in Goldendale. He was hired in 1971 to work as a millwright for the aluminum plant, at that time called Harvey Aluminum. Jake met his wife, Kathy Lawson, in September of 1981, and they were married Aug. 21, 1982, and made their home in Goldendale. He remained employed with the aluminum plant until it closed in 2003. Jake enjoyed fishing, reading, music, talking with people, adopting animals and vacationing in the Hawaiian Islands.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy, of Goldendale; mother Patricia J. Rich of Canby, Ore.; sisters Chris Podhara and her husband Fred and Robin Peterson all of Canby; half-brother Patrick McCellan of Gresham, Ore.; stepbrother Rick Rich of Wilsonville, Ore.; son Phil White and his wife Adrian of Redmond, Ore.; grandchildren Jack White and Erica White of Redmond, Misti White of Goldendale, and Joel White and his wife Amber of Forest Grove, Ore.; sister-in-law Cheryl Aversano of Lake Oswego, Ore.; brother-in-law Richard Lawson of Goldendale; niece Julie Fowler and her husband Ryan of Aurora, Ore.; and nephews Chris Medhaug of Easton, Md., and Jeremy Medhaug and his wife Monica of Lake Oswego.
Jake was preceded in death by his father, Jack E. White, Sr., and his son, Michael.
