M. Gladys Beebe
A long-time Goldendale resident, M. Gladys Beebe, died in Vancouver on Dec. 7, 2009.
She was born Aug. 1, 1919, in Purdy, Mo., to Robert and Rose Walters. She was the seventh of 12 children.
Her family relocated to Toppenish when she was in her teenage years. That is where she met George LeRoy Beebe. They were married in Goldendale in a double wedding ceremony with her brother, Roy, and his wife, Stella, on May 31, 1939.
She was a born-again Christian and active in her church. She was a homemaker and also held several jobs in the community prior to her retirement in 1981. She enjoyed all sorts of outdoor activities and any family activities.
After 70 years of residency in Goldendale, she and George relocated to Vancouver, due to health reasons.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, George, in November 2007.
Survivors include five children, Michael Beebe and his wife Constanza of Dewey, Ariz., Frank Beebe and his wife Rosalyn of Roseburg, Ore., Daniel Beebe and his wife Teri of Tigard, Ore., Patrick Beebe and his wife Irene of LasVegas, and Robbin Patterson and her husband Patrick of Vancouver; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one brother, Edward Walters, of Oregon City, Ore., and his wife Alta.
A private service was held in Vancouver on Dec. 12.
