Viola "Vi" F. Palmer

     Viola "Vi" F. Palmer, 84, a resident of The Dalles and a former resident of Goldendale and Longview, died at a care facility in The Dalles, on Dec. 15, 2009.
     She was born in White Butte, S.D. on Dec. 1, 1925, the third of five children, to Frank and Eva Maria (Kuntz) Staudinger. She grew up in Castle Rock, and attended high school at Toutle Lake High School in Toutle Lake.
     She married John Palmer. They were married 20 years. She worked in nursing homes and juvenile facilities as a cook and was a homemaker.
     She was a believer in Jesus Christ, though she did not attend any one church. She was a member of the Eagles for 35 years in Longview, and a member of VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed pinochle, cards, and traveling. She also belonged to Longview Senior Center and enjoyed volunteering for many different events.
     She is survived by her two daughters, Patty Cooper and husband James, of Goldendale; and Margaret Randall and husband Allen, of Vancouver.; her son, John Palmer and wife Cheryl, of Anaconda, Mont.; four grandchildren, Curtis Haney, Kristina Randall, Joe Randall and Katie Randall; her sister, Clara (Ottosen) Burge and brother, Frank Staudinger.
     At her request, no services will be held. Private cremation was held at Win-Quatt Crematory in The Dalles with arrangements under the care of Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home.
