Norman Hastings
Norman Hastings, 80, longtime Goldendale resident, died at Mid-Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles, on Feb. 18, 2010.
Norman Stanley Hastings was born to Willis Franklin Hastings and Myrtle Mildred (Lynch) Hastings on Nov. 16, 1929 in Salcum, Wash. He worked for most of his life as a farmer, growing crops of wheat. Norman loved the outdoors and enjoyed mushroom hunting, picking huckleberries and gardening as well as hunting, fishing and camping.
Norman was a ham radio operator and a member of the Mid-Columbia Amateur Radio Club. Another hobby Norman enjoyed was riding dirt bikes and going 4x4-ing with the Hillbilly Jeep Club, in which he was also a member.
His parents, Myrtle and Wills “Bud” Hastings; his daughter Connie Hastings and his niece Josephine Brower, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his brother Larry Hastings of Goldendale; his son Norman Scott Hastings of Naches; his daughters Robin Gunnier of Wapato, and Shelly Hastings of Waitsburg, ; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Norman was held Feb. 26 at Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel in Goldendale with private interment at Spring Creek Cemetery.
