Mary “Elaine” Elliott
Mary “Elaine” Elliott, 88, of Wishram, died Feb. 25, 2010.
She was the youngest of three children born to Earl and Hazel Garrett on December 30, 1921, in Vancouver.
She was married to Orville L. Elliott, Sr. on Feb. 8, 1941, in Silverton, Ore. They moved to Wishram in 1952 where they were both employed by the S.P.&S. and Burlington Northern Railroads. While living there she served as a member of the Wishram School Board, a Girl Scout Leader and was involved in the women’s Elks Auxiliary. She enjoyed a variety of crafts, especially crocheting. After retirement she became a “Snow Bird”, wintering in Yuma, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Evelyn, brother Larry, son Gary, grandson Gary Lee Jr. and granddaughter Brenda Bronkhorst.
She is survived by her children, Marge Walters of Williams, Ariz., Nancy Rhodes of Sultan, Carol Smith and husband Dick of Goldendale, Orville L. Elliott, Jr. of Wishram; granddaughters, Cheryl Schwinof and husband James of The Dalles, Paula Wilbern and husband Gerry of The Dalles; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
At her request, no services will be held. Private cremation was held at Win-Quatt Crematory in The Dalles with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
