Zeldia Jean Worrell
Zeldia Jean Worrell, 86, of Yakima, passed away Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Apple Creek Adult Family Home.
Jean was born May 12, 1923 in the family home in Klickitat County, WA to Thomas and Mary (Anderson) Riley. She was raised and educated in Goldendale and graduated from Goldendale High School. In 1942, Jean moved to Yakima and attended St. Elizabeth School of Nursing and graduated in 1945. During this time she met Thomas “Tommy” Worrell. They married in 1947. Jean worked as a nurse many years until the early 1960’s when she began cattle ranching with her husband. They lived in the Toppenish area for several years until moving to the Cowiche Mountain area in 1990 where they built their home. Jean especially enjoyed her cows, horses, dogs and cats. She most enjoyed being outdoors with her animals.
She is survived by sisters, Donna Peterson of Milwaukie, OR and Veryl Gibson of Portland and nine nieces and nephews; also very special friends Ron and Leanne Amer of Yakima.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom Worrell in 2004, and a brother, Errol Riley.
At Jean’s request there will be no services.
