Joyce Nadine Hutchins
Joyce Nadine Hutchins, 87, died at the Oregon Veterans' Home in The Dalles on May 8, 2010. She was born in Crescent City, Calif., Sept. 15, 1922, the daughter of James and Ruby (Mingus) Korthase.
When she was 12 years old, Joyce moved with her family to Lyle. She graduated from Lyle High School and married Donald Hutchins on Aug. 24, 1942. Donald served in the Navy, and while he was overseas, Joyce stayed in Bremerton and worked in the fleet post office. In 1953, Joyce and Donald returned to Lyle, where they remained the rest of their lives. Joyce owned and operated the River Vista Cafe in Lyle. She later worked for Diamond Fruit then Oregon Cherry Growers, retiring in the 1980s.
Joyce Hutchins is survived by her daughter, Cindy Martin of Lyle, and son, Robert Hutchins of Rock Springs, Wyo.; two granddaughters and two grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and a granddaughter.
Cremation arrangements were handled by Gardner Funeral Home.
