Kenneth Leroy O’Brien
Kenneth Leroy O’Brien died April 29, 2010, at his home in Goldendale.
He was born Nov. 9, 1940, in Britton, S. D., to Lawrence and Madeline (Berlquist) O’Brien. At the age of five, he moved to Hood River and attended school in Odell. Kenneth entered the United States Army in 1962 and continued to serve in the reserve National Guard until 1972.
He married Avis B. Huber in Hood River on Feb. 21, 1965. Ken went to work for Paul and Eleanor Dooley farming pigs. In 1980, he started working for the aluminum plant, retiring in 2004.
Ken liked hunting and fishing. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved joking with and teasing his friends. Kenneth was a member of the Oddfellows since 1970 and also a member of the Grange.
He was preceded in death by sister Dora O’Brien and brothers James “Jim” O’Brien and Johnny O’Brien.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Avis O’Brien of Goldendale; son David O’Brien of Goldendale; stepson William Huber of Goldendale; stepdaughter Linda Parks of Salem, Ore.; brothers Thomas, Victor and Frank O’Brien, all of Iowa; sisters Brenda Marshall and Donna O’Brien of Iowa; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 22, at Mt. View I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Goldendale.
