Gerald Eugene McComas
Gerald “Gary” Eugene McComas, 61, a resident of Maupin, Ore., died at a care facility in Maupin on May 10, 2010.
He was born in Sunnyside, on Aug. 17, 1948, the oldest of three children to Wilber D. and Amelia M. (Graff) McComas. He grew up in Grandview and Sunnyside area of the Yakima Valley in Washington.
Gary moved from Sunnyside to Goldendale, to Rufus, Ore., and settled in Maupin. He worked as a laborer and developed a passion for working with his hands handcrafting many wood, leather and metal creations, which were always given or shared with others.
Gary was preceded in death by his mother and father.
He is survived by his two brothers, Wilber “Bill” McComas, Jr. and Sherry of Camano Island, and Richard “Rick” McComas and his wife Debbie of Goldendale; his niece, Sara McComas-Sallin and husband Josh and great-nephew Kellan of Vancouver; step-brother Eugene “Gene” McComas; his step-sister, Darlene McComas-Delano and her husband Dennis; his uncle, Robert “Bob” McComas and wife Marie of Sedro Woolley; and many more aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins in the Graff and McComas families.
Private cremation held at Win-Quatt Crematory in The Dalles with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
A memorial service will be held at a later date by the family.
