Lillian Ladiges
Lillian Ladiges was born in White Salmon on Aug. 14, 1939, to Lloyd and Edythe Hickey. She died at her home in White Salmon, after battling cancer, surrounded by her family on Aug. 7, 2010. She was 70 years old.
Lillian grew up in Glenwood and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1957. She then attended the University of Washington. She married Ronald Ladiges on April 11, 1959. They made their home in Glenwood, had two children and moved to White Salmon in 1967.
As a young girl, Lillian enjoyed riding the mail stage with her father and later worked for the Postal Service for 30 years. She and Ron also worked side by side as owners of L & L Lockers Custom Meat Cutting and cattle ranching, where she especially enjoyed her job as camp cook.
Lillian has been active with the Klickitat County Fair and Rodeo Market Stock Sale for more than 40 years, raising money to support 4-H and FFA kids. She was a 4-H leader for 15 years and was honored in 2008 with the Jim Bridgefarmer Memorial Award for Outstanding Service from the Klickitat County Livestock Growers Association. She was a member of Eastern Star.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 50 years, Ronald.
She is survived by her brother Lloyd and his wife, Clara of North Bonneville; her children, Valerie and Rick Baker of Prosser, and Jaylin and Jeana Ladiges of White Salmon; and her grandchildren, Wade and Wyatt Baker, Jarin and Jenson Ladiges; as well as many other family members and loved ones.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 13, at Grace Baptist Church in White Salmon. Donations may be made to the Klickitat County Fair Market Stock Sale Fund, PO Box 223, Goldendale, WA 98620, or Hospice of the Gorge in her memory.
