Dorothy D. (Matheny) Rising
Dorothy D. (Matheny) Rising, 85, was born to Alton and Rubie (Norris) Matheny on June 25, 1925, in Fulton, Ky. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, in Richland, and went to dance with the Lord.
As a young woman, she moved to Idaho where she met and married Roger Rising. Before his death in 2001 they had celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Dorothy had witnessed many miracles and answers to prayers, and she loved to share Jesus with all she knew. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a warm smile, and will be greatly missed. We love you always, Mom.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Bob (Kris) Rising of Goldendale, Jim (Gail) Rising of Olympia, David (Henrietta) Rising of Post Falls, Idaho, Melissa (Doug) Alvarado-Bradford of Richland, Dorothy Rising of Yakima, Mary Ann Rising of Goldendale, Roger (Laraine) Rising of Selah, Fred Rising of Yakima; 18 grandchildren, Amy, Rob, Becky, Ben, Janette, Mikaela, Christine, Brad, Jamey, Lacey, Sarah, Rachel, Daniel, Seth, Josh, Nathen, Kirsten, Brianna; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Milton Matheny of Yakima, Bobby Matheny of Florida, best friend and sister-in-law, Maxine Matheny of Fulton, Ky.
She was preceded in death by husband, Roger; brother, James; and grandson, Scott Holcomb.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date. Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
