Wesley Irvin Pruitt

Wesley Irvin Pruitt, 75, of Lake Forest, Calif., passed away peacefully Monday morning, Aug. 23, 2010, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Dayton, on May 30, 1935, to Durward Howard Pruitt, father and Bernice Janetta Pettichord-Pruitt, mother.
Wes graduated from Goldendale High School in 1953 and went on to college and graduate at the University of Puget Sound. Soon after, he served in the military branch of the Marines. After serving his country he moved onto serving the community as a peace officer in Sunnyside and Carnation, for nine years.
Wes eventually changed careers and worked faithfully for Western Kraft Paper Co. for the next 20 years, until retiring in 1997 and relocating to be near family in Southern California.
Wes enjoyed his retirement years, caring for and playing with his grandchildren, reading, biking, swimming, and supporting local sports teams, which he loved. Everyone enjoyed Wes’ good sense of humor, fun-loving company and his easy-going spirit.
Wes is survived by his loving family, wife Carolyn Dea Pruitt; son Gordon Pruitt; daughter-in-law Michelle Pruitt; daughter Stephanie Dodge and son-in-law Randy Dodge. Also survived by the grandchildren he loved, Chase Dodge, Tess Dodge, Audrey Pruitt, Blair Dodge, Ethan Pruitt and Kendra Dodge.
Wes was laid to rest Aug. 31 at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial stories of Wes that can be sent to wesleypruitt@yahoo.com.
Arrangements are under the care of O’Connor Mortuary. Online guestbook available at www.oconnormortuary.com.
