Marilyn Vensel
Marilyn Jean Troutman Vensel died in Stevenson, Sept. 8, at the age of 85.
She was born May 29, 1925 in West Sunbury, Pa. to Leslie Edward Troutman and Eleanor McConnell Troutman.
Marilyn went to Business College, delivered western union telegrams and was an executive secretary for John Livacich Produce in San Bernardino, Calif. She was active in American Legion auxiliary, 8 and 40 of the American Legion and Rialto Business Women’s Association. She was a girl scout leader for 10 years; in high school it was a “wing” troop focusing on planes and flying. They flew in an old WWII trainer, worked on an airplane engine, flew in a flight simulator of the air national guard and went to ground school. Marilyn also worked at “Camp Conifer,” the Girl Scout camp, during the summer as assistant camp director.
Marilyn moved from California in 1993 with her family to Goldendale, where she resided for eight years. She volunteered at the library, was active at the Senior Center and had many card playing friends.
Her last years have been at Rock Cove assisted living in Stevenson. She has been surrounded by many great friends and a wonderful staff of caring people.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin and her brother Don.
She is survived by her daughter Victoria Roberts and husband Jack of Carson; sister Nancy LaMonk and husband Geren of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; sister-in-law Nelda Troutman of Hemet, Calif.; two grandchildren, Kenneth Roberts and his wife Sandy of Rialto, Calif., and Cheryl Martin and her husband John of Wenatchee; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Marilyn will be inurned in California, next to her husband.
Donations can be made in her name to an activity fund at Rock Cove for the residents. Gardner Funeral Home handled cremation arrangements.
