Goldendale Sentinel Editorial
The hard work is over - now sit back and enjoy!
By the time you read this, Christmas will be almost over. The turkey will have been devoured, along with honey-baked ham, and all that remains will be leftover cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes.
While children run through the house, relatives mingle over eggnog. Gingerbread houses are down to the rafters and teenagers have snuck around back to find the mistletoe.
(If the family hasn’t watched It’s a Wonderful Life or A Christmas Story, it’s about to. )
For many people, this is a favorite time of the year – and the fruit of much labor. Before this came hectic Christmas shopping, present-wrapping, the making of invitations, dinner planning, cooking, charity work, and an endless string of errands.
Now is the time everyone can come together as a family or with friends to relax and enjoy the payoff of their hard work. Even those who don’t celebrate Christmas have some time off and are no doubt curled up on the sofa with a book or loved one.
And with the blizzard outside raging, what a great excuse to sit around the fireplace, drink some hot chocolate, and do nothing but enjoy one another’s company.
Here at The Sentinel, we are revving up for another year of news and community events. As we make our preparations, we’d like to take a minute to thank our readers for a truly wonderful year and wish everybody Happy Holidays.
