And so she did
A column by Karen Henslee
Nearly everyone remembers the story of The Little Red Hen.
The industrious little fowl, with the lure of hot, fresh bread, began the process of gathering the grain, grinding the wheat into flour, mixing, kneading and baking the bread... and each step of the way, inviting her fellow barnyard animals to assist in the process, "Who will help me?" she would ask.
"Not I," said the cat. "Not I," said the dog. "Not I," said the horse. "Not I," said the pig."
And so she did.
And thus it went throughout the process. Until the time came to enjoy the aromatic feast. Then they were all anxious to enjoy the spoils of her labor.
As quaint a tale as this is, there's a great moral to the story, of course. One which we can take personally, more times than we'd like to count, I think.
And here's where you come in.
Last year during one of the Chamber of Commerce's business meetings, a committee was formed to plan Goldendale's first Home and Garden Show. It is set for April 18 to 19, at the Klickitat County Fairgrounds.
There is a lot to do, and many hands, feet, and willing bodies are needed to make this more than just the "first annual" show.
If you have a business that could prosper from a home improvement or gardening presentation, this one's for you.
If you love to garden or do fixer-upper things around your home, this one's for you.
If you love to keep busy and want to help keep our community moving forward, this one's for you.
Don't sit back on your haunches and watch. You just might miss out on the sweet aroma of success.
