Lyle school levy defeated again in voting

 


Voters turned down the Lyle school district’s request for a Maintenance and Operations levy for the second time this year.

The vote was 338 for and 435 against.

The previous vote was 378 for and 433 against, so this time around the measure actually lost ground.

If nothing is done, the school will lose the $378,500 it is currently receiving through the M&O levy, starting in 2013.

Law prevents the school from running the same levy for a third time in 2012, but they could submit a changed levy request to run on either the primary or general election ballot.

In other elections, Bickleton’s levy passed 99 to 44, Centerville’s levy passed 139 to 47, and Glenwood’s levy passed 84 to 65.<...
