Furor still stirs over possible loss of trees

Java Talk Community Discussion Meeting

 


At the last Java Talk meeting, almost half the time was taken in discussing the possible destruction of the trees near the Goldendale Library. The topic clearly struck a nerve.

“I would be totally against cutting them down,” one participant voiced. “There’s room between them to put some diagonal parking. They don’t need to be cut down.”

Goldendale Mayor Clint Baze pointed out the project hasn’t been bid yet. “It probably won’t happen for another two years,” he said. “I’ve been reading some of the comments on some of the different websites, and they’re helpful. They really are. There are other alternatives. Maybe plant some trees that will grow in place. Or maybe...
