The Lyle school district has not been reapportioned for the last 20 years, instigating a group of concerned citizens to canvas the area collecting signatures on a petition for “the dissolution of the existing director districts for Lyle School District 406, and the reapportionment of the District into no fewer than three director districts and no more than two directors at large.” Redistricting is the redrawing or adjusting of electoral district boundaries following the federal census to account for population shifts and growth during the previous decade and the process is governed by the U.S. Constitution, State and federal law.
