Pick-ups a big hit at annual derby

COUP DE GRACE: Brian Woolery, left puts the final hit on Dale Arp’s car to win the finals of the Fourth of July Demolition Derby.

Veronica Glenn, of Trout Lake was off to a roaring start at the Fourth of July Goldendale Jaycees’ Demolition Derby, but came up short in the finals as Brian Woolery won the car division and $500 prize. Glenn, who participated in her first derby at this year’s event at the fairgrounds pocketed $100 before the demolition derby ever began when she won the time trials and People’s Choice awards.

Glenn promised to win a heat and did just that in a great battle with Dale Arp. Arp went home without a win at this year’s derby, but he was presented a trophy for 30 straight years of competition in the annual event. Arp and Glenn tangled in the first heat with Glenn launching crushing front...
