Truck Rollover

Heidi McCarty

A truck rests on its side Friday on Highway 97 after rolling over. The driver was not hurt. According to one witness, the truck began weaving in the northbound lane, then the trailer caught the guard rail, crushing it and causing the truck to end up in the southbound lane. The driver was identified as Frank Parriott, 48, from Prosser; the trucking company was Hickenbottem and Sons of Sunnyside. According to a Rescue 7 source, the driver took a corner too fast and overcorrected. The truck was carrying a load of empty pallets. As personel from The Sentinel were on the scene, a northbound truck failed to see the warning signs and came onto the scene at high speed. It slammed on its brakes, while Rescue 7 workers shouted warnings to The Sentinel staff and others to get out of the way and dive over the guard rail. The truck narrowly made it through the single lane closure around the accident and continued on. No police were on the scene at the time.
