KLCK to change format

The familiar sound of oldies music on station KLCK will soon change to all-talk radio.

Haystack Broadcasting, owner of the popular Klickitat County AM station, makes the change-over on Sept. 4.

"We're hoping the change will make the station a better voice for Klickitat County," says Haystack general manager Shannon Milburn. "It will allow us to provide institutions in the area to get their own voice on the air."

Haystack plans to offer some organizations their own talk show in the new format. The Sentinel is among the institutions that will participate, putting on a new show to supplement its print and online news as it continues to explore more joint collaborations with Haystack.

KLCK's "Hotline" phone-in talk show will continue in the new format. Of national talk programs, the station will feature Mike Huckabee's popular talk show.

More detail will be covered in next week's edition of The Sentinel.
