Youth Football League Jamboree, Saturday at The Dalles, Wahtonka

MISMATCH: What they lack in size they overcome with courage and desire. Members of the Goldendale Purple third and fourth grade team puts the rush on against much bigger offensive linemen from the fifth and sixth grade team during combined practice this week in Goldendale.

The Youth Football League has begun practice with the season opening Jamboree just days away. While there were plans to field two teams from Goldendale, currently there is just one team scheduled for this year’s Jamboree.

The Goldendale Purple will field a third and fourth grade team and a fifth and sixth grade team. The fifth and sixth graders are under the direction of Chad Read, while third and fourth are coached by Shane Escene. There is room for more players on both teams.

The Jamboree will be played this Saturday at The Dalles Wahtonka field. The fifth and sixth graders for Goldendale are scheduled to play Hood River 1 at 9 a.m. on the north field and the third and fourth graders...
