Alaska to Argentina

Neil Roberts stopped by The Sentinel office recently on his way from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, to Tierra Del Fuego at the southernmost tip of South America—on a bicycle. The retired school teacher left his cozy home in the east of England to make the 18,000-mile bicycle trek, the longest one possible on a bike. “I started on July 28,” he says, “and I hope to finish by Christmas 2013.” He checks WarmShowers.org, a site dedicated to touring cyclists, to find places to stop. “I’ve found people very friendly,” he says. “It’s quite an experience.”
